Wakefield Health Selects Blue Coat for WAN Optimization
Between Its New Zealand Hospitals
Blue Coat Appliances Accelerate Email, File
Sharing and New SilentOne Document Management System by over 600%
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Blue Coat
Systems, Inc. , a leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway,
today announced that Wakefield Health Limited in Wellington, New Zealand, has
selected Blue Coat(R) ProxySG(R) appliances to accelerate its new SilentOne
electronic document management system and also the delivery of email and files
across its Wide Area Network (WAN). The Blue Coat appliances control and
accelerate applications between the main data center at Wakefield Hospital and
its other hospitals, with increases in performance of over 600%.

response time of the application at remote locations from around 20 seconds per
screen to just a couple of seconds, which makes use of the application viable
outside of our data center."
Before installing Blue Coat appliances, Wakefield Health tested
the document management system over the WAN. Although sufficient WAN bandwidth
was available, WAN latency caused significant network response time delays. Blue
Coat ProxySG appliances solved that issue, while also speeding file transfer and
email exchange.
The overall installation was conducted by Asnet Limited,
utilizing its expertise and experience.
